Miniatum products were developed for gilding paintings and lettering (calligraphy). Cologne Miniatum Mirror Finish is a gilding medium specifically designed for gilding paper, leather, and parchment. It is applied with either a soft hair brush or a quill pen. After a short drying time, it can be decorated with transfer leaf within 24 hours.
The Cologne Miniature should be used at room temperature between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius. Additional dilution with water is possible, but should not exceed approximately 5%. Brushes, nibs, etc., should be cleaned with soap and water as long as the priming agent has not yet formed a film. For longer applications, intermediate cleaning with water may be necessary, especially at higher ambient temperatures. After a film has formed, cleaning with alcohol or acetone is possible.
